Luís Pereira Miguel

Lisbon, May 29th, 1974. Luís Pereira Miguel studied Architecture in Porto, Cottbus (Germany) and Lisbon, where he graduate by Universidade Lusíada in 1997. He’s also master in Architecture and Urbanism by Architectural Association of London, following the master’s course of Design Research Laboratory in 2000 to 2001.

In 1996/97 had Erasmus annual scholarship in Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus and scholarship of Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia in 2001 for the elaboration master’s thesis with the theme “Urbanets – the role of temporal spaces in today’s digital society”.

In 1998/99 was assistant of ‘’Project IV’’ in Univesidade Independente in Lisbon and in 2002 to 2004 was a trainer in AEP. Currently, he develops several workshops in ESAD of Matosinhos. Until 2004 he worked in many Architecture ateliers, wich stands out  the Eduardo Trigo de Sousa’s, Contemporânea (Manuel Graça Dias + Egas José Vieira) and Contacto Atlântico (André Caiado). Now he’s President of Conselho Regional de Admissão Sul da Ordem dos Arquitectos. 

 In 2005 creates ‘’Pereira Miguel Arquitectos’’ (www.pm-arq.com), who dedicates the work to sustainable practice in Architecture, Urbanism, 3D and Architectural Investigation.

In 2007, Pereira Miguel is selected for top 10 of Portuguese architects with less than 40 years old, by the international site www.newitalianblood.com.

In 2008 wins the international contest ColorsDesigner, promoted by Poli.design (Consortium of Polytechnic of Milan) and Benetton, between 700 competitors all around the world, taking the atelier working for Benetton and for Sisley in concepts of stores in Russia and Italy. The atelier’s work was been a target of several national and international publications like exhibitions, conferences and television programs. Between them, stands out:

- Project “Casa Monte na Comporta”, selected by the magazine A10 for the Yearbook 09/10 as one of the 20 most important projects in Europe that year;

 - Exhibition Opening Soon on Triennial of Milan with the winner project Combispace, January to February in 2009;

-  Lecturer at the seminar The Future of Retail, promoted by Fabrica in ARS Electrónica festival in Linz, Austria, 2009; 

 - Jury in several national and international contests where stands out the contest ‘’designing in Teheran’’ promoted by Benetton, with 2000 competitors in 2009;

 - Designer invited to the event “Duets - Art on Chairs " promoted by the Municipality of Paredes, under the patronage of the President and the ACNUR, in 2012.

 At the moment, the atelier develops projects in Continental Portugal, Italy and Mozambique with projects of habitation, tourism, logistic and commercial spaces.
