João Mendes Ribeiro

João Mendes Ribeiro was born in Coimbra in 1960. Architect by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, in 1986. Ph.D. by the University of Coimbra in 2009. Assintant Professor of the Department of Architecture of the faculty of Sciencies and Technology of the University of Coimbra. Works as a freelancer since 1987.

Prize Architécti 1997 e 2000. Prize Diogo de Castilho (Coimbra) 2003, 2007 e 2011.

Prize FAD (Barcelona) 2004. Gold Medal for Best Stage Design, Quadrienal of Praga, 2007.

Prize Enor (Vigo) 2009. Prize BIAU (Cádiz) 2012. Prize AICA/MC (International Association of Art Critics/ Ministry of Culture) 2007, for his overall work.

In 2006 was distinguished by the Presidency of the Republic with the Order of Commendation (Comenda da Ordem) of Infante D. Henrique.
