Centre for Development and Creativity

The Centres for Development and Creativity (CDC) are meant to be located in countryside towns with art related courses where the professionals, students and graduates can develop and exercise their academic knowledge by learning to use conventional or computer-assisted equipments designed to create products. As the project went on we became aware of the deficient academic training in areas where the knowledge is supposed to be considerable - mechanic engineering, architecture and design - and the equipments available are merely observed rather than used by those who would benefit the most from a direct contact, even though it is necessarily shared.

This reality required another approach for the Next Project. It led us to the Centres for Development and Creativity and a double goal: training and sustainability. Human resources had to be provided to meet the needs of the project without being dependent on other parties. Business practices were therefore applied to the project for its intervening parties. One can reach that goal by Training through Production, naturally adjusting the quality of both of them to the final product.

The CDC are encharged with the production of the "Amigas" (friends), ballpoint pens fully adjustable to the equipments and the requirements for the intended final product. They will also produce prototypes or small series according to the available equipments' features leaving acquisition and marketing in the hands of Engelma and Ârgentália whenever it is found to be the most profitable solution for the involved partners, namely schools, municipalities, companies and local institutions, among others.
