The 560 architects is founded in 2007 by Filipe Santos Marinho and Vítor Carneiro de Mesquita, with a multidisciplinary team constituted by architects, designers and engineers. The activity is focused if the fields of architecture and urbanism projects, as well as, in the fields of academic and scientific research.
The office headquarters is in Oporto - Portugal and with international operation, namelly in all Europe, Brasil, and Angola. The professional practice has been developed through research projects, private orders, public and ideas contests, both national and international, which have received prizes, distinctions, exhibitions and publications, in Portugal, Italy, Corea, São tomé, Angola, Peru, and Brasil. Stand out the “2º Prémio Bergamo di Architettura” promoted by the Polithecnic of Milano, in Italy; selected for the exhibitions in the Contemporary Art Museum of Serralves, in the scope of POP's - Original Portuguese projects, in 2010 with the creation of the brand 560 art brand - project of creation and production of original portuguese pieces and, in 2012, culminating with a distinction and an Honorable Mention. In the fielsd of research is founded in 2009 the Ubox – modular ideas, patented project for the new modular concrete constructive system, classified in the Top 10 best ideas, for the Ideas EIBTnet Contest promoted by the Business and Innovation Center of Porto; and in 2012 the research project Shape Up! - wood alloy, which is developed in partnership with the University of Minho, and which received a prize within the programme Fibrenamics.
